Sterling K Brown Made Golden Globes History As The First Black Man To Clinch His Best Actor Win

Best known for his role in This Is Us, The People Vs OJ Simpson and in the forthcoming Black Panther movie, Sterling K Brown just made his fans and the entire black community proud by grabbing the award for Best Lead Actor in a TV Drama at the 2018 Golden Globes.

This will be the first time in the 75 year history of the award that an African-American wins in that category. Brown who clinched the award for his role as Randall Pearson in This Is Us said about the series in his acceptance speech, “I’m being seen for who I am and appreciated for who I am, and it makes it that much more difficult to dismiss me or anyone who looks like me.”

According to Variety,  Brown spoke backstage about feeling the weight of his historic win. “I stand up here hold this trophy. I hope another black actor will be up here holding this trophy not 75 years from now,” he said.

The actor also won an Emmy for the same role and just like then, we’re super chuffed!
