American R&B and soul music vocal group, Shalamar just won a Bright Star Award for their April 22nd 2017 show at Clapham Grand, London. The group which consists of Howard Hewett, Jeffrey Daniel and Carolyn Griffey recently united for their 35th anniversary tour.
Concept of Sly of Colourful Radio, The Bright Star Awards is an urban music award for artists both in the UK and worldwide and was up until the 2016 event known as the Sly awards.
The 2017 awards featured artists across nine categories and a special lifetime achievement award for which winners were announced during a live presentation on Sunday 28th January 2018 at the Colourful Radio Studios, London.
Shalamar beat American singer-songwriter, and actress, Erykah Badu for her Hammersmith Apollo show, Eric Benet, Morgan Heritage, Chronixx and Bitty McLean for his show at Jazz Cafe, Camden to clinch the best live experience.
In a tweet to both celebrate and acknowledge their win, the group thanked their fans for constantly voting for them.
Shalamar joins British-Jamaican musician, Levi Roots and former lead vocalist of The Gap Band, Charlie Wilson who have in times past been recipients of the same award.
